Kada već moramo biti zavodiljivi i na poslu i na sastanku i na ulici, moramo li biti i u teretani?

“Nije da sam pozvana da komentarišem, ali moram da uskočim nesretnoj Honor u pomoć, Honor nigdje nikome nije ni pokušala da odredi šta smije, a šta ne smije da nosi,samo je konstatovala činjenično stanje, i to, ako smijem da dodam, ispravno.”

“Nisam luda da vježbam u trenerci, zamisli samo vežbanje na kardio mašinama ili vježbanje joge sa nogavicama koje landaraju oko tebe,to je opasno,eto, tako svoj izbor brane vatrene braniteljke helanki,i zaista, ja ne znam kako preživjesmo te devedesete bauljajući okolo u trenerkama sa širokim nogavicama koje nam ne ocrtavaju svaki milimetar tijela.”

Istina je da Honor nikoga nije napala. Same obožavateljke helanki našle su se prozvanima i počele da se brane. I istina je da nikome nije pokušavala da odredi šta da nosi, a šta ne.

Redžep Kastrati iz jednog sela kod Prizrena, kada je napunio 61 godinu, odlučio je da se opet oženi. Kupio je mladu Albanku da mu bude žena. Kako je izjavo za lokalne medije on je za buduću suprugu dao čak 3.000 eura.

It’s naive to think that we have total control over our bodies. More often, we’re controlled by our body’s responses and can’t control most of the physical processes. It might make you feel uncomfortable: you need to pee when there’s no toilet around, you’re feeling sleepy when it’s time to prepare for an exam, or you can’t clear your throat during an important presentation. These situations are not fatal but they’re very unpleasant. Luckily, a lot can be changed if you find the right approach to your own body.

We made a list of life hacks that might help you trick your body and make your life more comfortable.

1. Blow on your finger to slow down your heart rate.

An increased heart rate is often the result of stress. Probably, you’re worried before an important presentation or a date, receiving exam results, or making a mistake at work.

Luckily, there’s a quite simple way to calm yourself down: you just need to blow on your thumb. This part of your body has its own pulse. If you cool it down, the pulse will slow down and you’ll calm down.

Another proven and tested method is to put your thumb in your mouth and blow. This way you’ll stimulate the vagus nerve, slow down the heart rate, and feel much calmer and relieved.

2. Shift your body weight to the side to relieve pain on one side.

Many people are familiar with sudden unexpected pain on one side that often appears during jogging. You may have to slow down or even stop the running.

The most common reason for this is an insufficient warm-up. The blood flow significantly increases when you run but the blood doesn’t have enough time to redistribute properly and accumulates in the liver and spleen. These organs have a thin cover and push on it when there is too much blood in them. This is how the pain occurs.

Athletes know a proven method to deal with this problem: you need to slow down your running speed and shift the body weight to the side opposite to the one the pain is coming from. You need to do this while breathing out. After several repetitions, the pain will go away.

3. A quick warm-up of the neck will relieve numbness in the hands.

Almost everyone experiences an unpleasant numbness and tingling in their fingers sometimes. These feelings might be caused by an uncomfortable position while sleeping, working, or during moments of excessive workload.

When you feel something like this, you usually warm up your hand by twisting it or moving your fingers or wrists. These exercises are quite effective but it turns out there’s a better and more effective way to get rid of annoying numbness — just turn your head.

Our limbs get numb due to the squeezing of nerves that run through the neck. If you turn your head, you’ll warm up the muscles and relieve the pressure. It would save you from unpleasant sensations in your hands. This method is often more convenient in many situations, especially if you’re driving.

4. An ear massage will reduce discomfort in your throat.

Throat tingling and discomfort can sometimes come out of nowhere and it’s hard to ease it right away. A glass of water and coughing doesn’t always help.

To relieve such throat discomfort, carefully massage your ear (preferably on the inside). Unpleasant tingling often appears due to muscle spasms. When you massage your ear muscles, you stimulate the nerves and help throat muscles relax and remove the spasm.

You may have previously noticed that there’s a connection between these organs: any ear manipulations affect the throat and some people even cough when they clean their ears. This results from a special sensitivity of the vagus nerve connected to the auricular branch of the nerves.

5. Coughing alleviates the pain from a shot.

You can’t get rid of all of the unpleasant feelings from the shot completely, but you can ease them significantly with a simple trick.

If you start coughing as soon as you’re about to get the shot, it will ease the pain. A British journal on plastic surgery first published the information about this trick. Doctors claim that it’s due to the fact that the person’s attention shifts to something else, as well as the increase in arterial pressure.

As it turns out, this simple method is more effective than listening to music, watching a movie, conversation, or other methods of distracting a patient before giving a shot.

6. Massaging the area between the eyebrows relieves a stuffy nose.

Drops, diffusers and other types of medications perfectly deal with a stuffy nose. What to do when you don’t have any of thereof, the drugstore is closed, and your stuffy nose won’t let you breathe?

You can relieve your condition without any additional medications — just a massage. To get rid of a stuffy nose, push your fingers against the area between your eyebrows and press your tongue against the palate. 20 seconds would be enough to feel the effect. You can repeat this trick several times if necessary.

By holding your tongue in this position, you move a bone that connects the nasal passages to the mouth. Thus, you create a kind of drainage that relieves the stuffiness.

7. The pain would lessen if you look at the wound with binoculars turned upside down.

The brain is responsible for the pain we feel: this is its method of letting us know about any danger. It turns out that we can trick the brain and make it believe the wound isn’t as bad as the brain sees it.

Scientists from Oxford University conducted an experiment with people who suffer from chronic hand pain. They asked the participants to look at the area where their pain is coming from different angles and distances. If the painful area is enlarged, a person feels more pain and they feel the opposite if the area is shown on a smaller scale.

The reason for such reactions lies in the logical work of the brain: a bigger wound provokes a louder warning signal, while a look from afar makes it less important and less painful.

8. If you can’t wait to get to the toilet, rub your calf.

The urgent need to use the bathroom might be very unexpected and inconvenient. Just like with feeling pain, the need to use the bathroom is brought to you by the brain. It can intensify the signal for us to hurry up. But, physiologically, we can usually wait much longer than we think.

Australian physical therapist Janetta Webb found an unusual way to deal with urgent calls to the bathroom: you need to scratch your calf for a couple of seconds. You’ll become more relaxed and win more time if you need to wait.

Unfortunately, this way had been proven true only for women and it’s still not clear if it’s helpful for men.

9. Do this to get rid of dizziness:

Dizziness occurs not only due to serious pathologies and diseases but also due to the influence of minor factors such as stuffed air, stress, or frights. Usually, you have to sit down and wait until your condition improves. However, there’s an exercise that can help you.

A scientist from the University of Colorado came up with a simple exercise that saves you from vertigo in just one minute. You need to tip your head up, then slowly bend forward and then turn your head to face your left elbow.

People who tried using this method claimed that the dizziness goes away immediately after you do this exercise. The video with the description of the exercise has gained 2 million views and the doctor received compliments and gratitude from many people from all over the world.

10. To cool down, press something cold against any pulse point on your body.

9 Signs You’re Gluten Sensitive, and This Is Important to Know

And the patients are mistakenly diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Studies confirm that 10-15% of the world population suffers from IBS. But this diagnosis can lead to people with gluten sensitivity who don’t receive proper treatment so the symptoms don’t disappear.

According to information gathered from a study, people with gluten intolerance are more prone to migraines than other people. The causes of headaches can be very different. A person who is allergic to gluten can experience a headache 30-60 minutes after eating.

Hair keratosis and herpetiform dermatitis are 2 skin conditions directly related to gluten intolerance. The symptoms include itchiness and rashes that can appear on your hands, torso, face, buttocks, elbows, and hairline. Another symptom is weakened and brittle nails. Other skin irritations like mimic eczema can signal gluten-induced blockage.

6. ADHD

Another disorder that may be associated with gluten intolerance is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. ADHD can manifest in both children and adults. People with this disorder have a short attention span and problems with self-control. A gluten-free diet can help reduce the symptoms of ADHD.

7. Poor condition of the teeth

In case of gluten intolerance, absorption of the necessary elements and minerals in the intestine is impaired. This also applies to calcium. The result can be problems with the teeth and oral cavity: hypersensitivity of the enamel, tooth decay, cavities, and ulcers of the mucous cavity. If you take good care of your teeth, but still notice some issues, the reason may be caused by your gluten consumption.

8. Iron deficiency anemia

1. Get tested. Your doctor will take a blood sample and check it for antibodies that are usually present in the blood of people with Celiac disease. Before the examination, you need to include gluten in your diet as this will help to avoid inaccurate results.

2. Eliminate gluten from your diet. It’s contained in:

Wheat;
Rye;
Bulgur;
Flour;
Semolina;
And in a number of other foods.

Always check the composition of the product. Give preference to products which contain the label “gluten-free.”

Good manners are as different as the people who show them. Eskimo people rub noses when greeting each other, the Japanese always take off their shoes before entering a house, and Thai citizens will never show off their shoe soles — it’s considered inappropriate. Nevertheless, there are some etiquette rules that should be followed no matter what nationality you are. Everyone should want to be a polite person after all!

We want to direct your attention to some disregarded etiquette norms that have become common and welcome in the present day.

1. Carrying women’s bags

Our smart phones are getting bigger by the day, and there’s hardly a person left without some kind of a bag to put it in. This is how to deal with them:

Always carry your bag on your left arm or shoulder so that your right hand is free for handshakes.
Never carry a woman’s bag if you’re a man, even if you love her dearly. This doesn’t include heavy shopping bags though.

Don’t place your bag on the table or on the floor next to you in a restaurant. Either hang it on your chair or on the hook that you sometimes find on the side of or directly underneath the table.

2. Showing respect at the gym

The fact that it’s not a ballroom or a business office doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want, disregarding others. There’s still a way to do things properly.

Being late to a group exercise class doesn’t mean you have to barge your way through all the people toward your favorite spot. It’s your fault, so just take whatever space is available and don’t block the equipment.

When you’ve finished using the weight machines, re-set them to the minimum weight. That way the next person that uses them won’t injure themselves if they start doing exercises without looking. Trust us, it happens.

Use a towel to wipe your sweat from all handles and equipment surfaces.

3. Behaving in public places

As members of society, we are expected to behave in a certain way when we’re surrounded by people, instead of in the comfort of our own homes.

There are 3 types of people in this world: those who come early, those who come on time, and those who come late. If you aren’t the first type, you will inevitably have to pass in front of people in the theater, at the movies, in a concert hall, or in any other place with seats. The only right way to do it is facing other people and not turning your back toward them.

If you are the first type though, you’ll be the one who has to let people through to their seat. In this case, don’t remain sitting. It’s inconvenient for people to pass over your legs as an obstacle. Stand up and make it easy for them.

Speaking of public places — talking on your phone, commenting on what’s happening in front of you, or chatting with neighbors is inappropriate at the movies, in the theater, or at a concert. The last 2 can only happen at a sports match (but restrain from shouting rude stuff at the players). People come to these events for one purpose — to enjoy them. Listening to your chatter isn’t exactly anyone’s idea of fun.

4. Dealing with invitations

There are 2 types of invitations: “Regrets only” and “RSVP.” Both require an answer if you want to be a nice person or wish to be invited to an event in the future.

If an invitation says “Regrets only,” you should only respond if you are sure that you will NOT come. Otherwise, the host will just count on you.

“RSVP” (“respondez s’il vous plait,” French for “please respond”) on the other hand, means that you must write or call the host to confirm your presence at their event. Preferably during the requested period of time. The host needs to know exactly how many people will come to prepare the right amount of food, beverages, etc.

5. Handling table manners

Judging by the time we all spend eating out these days, it’s only right to learn some guidelines to follow.

Using cloth napkins may seem easy, but there are some rules to follow as well. If you need to leave the table for some time, put the napkin on the chair. People won’t enjoy looking at it on the table while you’re away. If you’ve finished your meal, only then can you put it on the table but not on the plate. It will be a sign for the waiter that you’re done and they can come up and take the dirty plates away.

With your fork, you are supposed to put it on the plate if you need to take a break from eating. And if you aren’t sure which fork to use for which dish – just start with the one farthest to the plate and then work your way in.
It’s an awkward moment when you come to someone’s house for dinner and see shrimp or peanuts on the table, but you’re allergic to them. To escape a situation like that, always notify the host about the foods you can’t eat due to health issues. It will save you both a lot of trouble.

6. Dressing up for the occasion

Dressing up can be very tricky nowadays because there are so many options and so little certainty on what’s right and what’s not. Here are some useful tips:

Casual Attire: This can be anything from a T-shirt and jeans to shorts and a blouse. Find out if you’re going to be inside or outside and ask what others are wearing first.

Casual Friday: This happens in the office and doesn’t mean “casual” from the previous point. You could meet a higher ranking employee who can determine your future, so why risk it with sandals.

Business Casual: Being neat is the answer here. Ditch clothing that is too tight or oversized and just be in style. You never know who you might meet.

Formal Business: This is perfect for professionals who want to always look dashing and are aimed at climbing the ladder. A suit and dark dress shoes for men, and pumps, a skirt, and a blazer for women.

7. Being a people person

When standing in line at a coffeeshop, don’t talk on the phone. Especially when the barista is already asking you questions. It’s impolite to make everyone wait and listen to your conversation.

Don’t bring your pets (mostly dogs) with you everywhere you go. They don’t enjoy shopping, even if it’s at a pet shop. Other people don’t enjoy your big clumsy dog or a small barking one either. The same goes for when you’re invited to a house party. Always ask first if you can take your dog with you.
